Player Development & Rewards Program

Player development / Rewards program:  To facilitate continued enjoyment for the girls in playing the game of soccer, while developing individual and team skills both on and off the soccer field, Strikers-CB has a systematic program that combines playing experience from is diverse coaching staff, experience and education from graduate studies in Training & Development, Technical Skill development methodologies taken from “Soccer U”  and the National USSF Licensing courses at the “E,” “D” and “C” levels.

Our summer training program is robust, but also flexible and offers multiple practice and work at home opportunities, yet requires only partial attendance to allow for family vacations, usually starting the week after July 4th.

Practice Location:        Place: Usually, Golden Spike Park  1260 West 5050 South, Riverdale UT 84405
  Day: Tuesday’s & Thursday’s        Time: Typically 6:00-8:00p.m.
Time Commitment:  Membership to the Strikers CB is a one year commitment.  The participation expectations for the developmental year are listed below and the following are typical of what is required of each player throughout the year. The time commitment may increase ever so slightly year by year with any increase in competition level of play.

Season
Months
Time Commitment
Pre-Season
July, & January – February
2 x’s a week maximum. (2 practices and /or a “friendly” scrimmage)
Fall & Spring Season
August – October, & March – May
3 x’s a week: typically a game on Saturday; a game on one weeknight and practice one weeknight, or practice 2 x’s a week.
Off-Season
June, & November – December
More flexible for family travel and vacations – we typically do not meet during these months

As part of our summer program, we have a now 9 week training program where we focus on specific touches and skills taught in practice with development progression relevant to level, age, and needs of our current team play strategies.

At the end of the summer program, if the player has completed 7 of the 9 weeks of their homework (20 minutes average per day for at least 5 out of 7 days  in the week = 1 week home work completed), they earn the rewards that are explained to them in the beginning of the program.  They also earn a small reward each week (a large candy bar, a hair band, colored markers, soccer keychain, etc.) when they turn in their homework sign-off ticket at practice. This past year the girls main item was a special made nice white Strikers-CB team fitted shirt for public wear, and a gray female fitted practice jersey for athletic wear.

EXAMPLE:                     Weekly Homework:  Summer Training Program Week  1

Touches: Bobbles; 20 Stationary, 10 Forward, 10 Backwards &  Toe Taps:  20 Stationary, 10 Forward, 10 Backwards. Count how many times repeat pattern and write down # touches total in 5 minutes. Need Timer and helper to count touches in pattern repeats. Parents, this is a long 5 minutes, but well worth it because of the endurance ability and gained attention to detail and control by the end of the time limit.

Skill: 1-Touch Passes Alternating Strong/Weak Foot w/wall.  Count consecutive # without stopping, losing control, or ball stopping.  Write down maximum, must be at least 10. Continue until receiving at least 10 consecutive touches. Spend at least 10 minutes on passing.

Juggling: Using head, thigh, foot, chest, etc., but no hands. Write down maximum without losing control. Spend at least 5 minutes on juggling.

Write down maximum numbers on chart for each day and highest number per category on ticket, return to reward practice for reward. Players will be randomly tested on these abilities to demonstrate learned skills in practice.

Please cut, sign, and return ticket on Tuesday, July 25
for reward and simple testing.

Last year the team games Jerseys for the Strikers Club were as can be seen located under the #1 below. The Striker’s club has had this jersey for the past 6 years and next year is moving to a more current/modern style as seen located under the #2 below. I mention this because the rewards for our upcoming winter training program are the spirit sleeves seen located under the #3 & 4 below. The winter training program is only one practice per week and an indoor or futsal game on Saturdays (typically). Usually, we discontinue practice in November and December, only playing a game on Saturday and then start up our winter training program in January – March. This can also change in the years to come according to the overall desires of the team. In the Summer training program the year to come, we will likely have the nice striped sox seen located under #5 below, to replace the standard back sox the girls wear; we will likely add a matching hair band to that reward package.  Then in the Winter training Program of 2015, we will likely give the girls the opportunity to earn a nice size 5 Practice Ball as seen located under the #6 below, in preparation for the move the next spring (June 2015) at U13 from a 4 to a 5 size ball.

As a result of our Strikers-CB systematic program and coaching methodology to consistently positively reinforce (praise) the various individual successes of all players, last year our team took second in our division and promoted up a division of play.  This year, partially because of so much interest from various girls playing on other teams against Strikers-CB last year to come play for our coaches, we expanded out our team to two teams to give more girls this positive experience and opportunity, and we are right on track again this year for both team to place 1st or 2nd in their divisions and promote up another division  next year and continue down our path of growth and development. Additionally, our 2 Strikers-CB teams this past Summer were able to play in the final Championship games of the RAMPAGE CLASSIC and the STRIKERS CUP tournaments.  The Strikers-CB RED (A) team dominated in the championship game with a shutout and an 8-0 outcome / WIN over La Roca TJ, Taking home the GOLD Medal in the STRIKERS CUP tournament (below). The Strikers-CB WHITE (B) team had a good fight and couldn’t prevent a last minute goal in the final minute of the championship game, thus affording a 1-2 outcome (loss), but still taking the SILVER Medal for the RAMPAGE CLASSIC tournament (below).

Needless to say, we are a very serious player development oriented team organization, and we have a lot of fun together, learning what we can accomplish through and how to succeed from our hard work, dedication and focus.

We are interested in potentially offering this same opportunity to your daughter and have given you this material during the open recruiting season.  If you are in the least bit interested in understanding how we can help your daughter accomplish her competitive soccer play objectives through High-school and potentially college, and do so at a lower cost than almost all of the other local clubs (see breakdown on next page), please reach out to us for more information.  We hope you will contact us with any questions and we hope to see you out at our team try-outs on the Wednesday & Friday after Memorial Day (May 28th & 30th).  Again, please feel free to get the perspective of the players and parents of the players, by calling and asking the families of the teams about their experience thus far.
